Our Learning Curriculum & program

Our early learning centre curriculum is based on outcomes of The Early Years Learning Framework with a strong emphasis on the Emergent curriculum and the National Quality Framework, which mainly focuses on children’s interests, home and community experiences and their emerging development. Our program features many components, these include:

  • Early Years Learning framework
  • National quality framework
  • Play based curriculum and learning
  • Intentional learning which includes opportunity for small group and while group learning and development
  • Music and movement every day
  • Literacy sessions that include, book of the week, songs, listening and talking skills.
  • Making and creating- we use our imagination to make and create 2D, 3D and even 4D structures- derived from the children’s interests
  • Art and craft every day which includes painting, drawing and creating wonderful master pieces
  • Mathematical concepts such as counting, weight, measurement and size. We do this in a fun and hands on way- for example- making a cake, we may talk about the number of ingredients we have used to make our cake.
  • Science- Children love to experiment, hypotheses and draw conclusions within hands on science experiments that capture children’s amazement to science based learning
  • Sustainability and the natural environment- we educate children on the terms Reduce, reuse, recycle.
  • Aboriginal education- children learn about the first traditional owners of our land. We engage children in Aboriginal art forms and discussions.
  • Healthy eating and Physical activity- our Munch & Move program
  • ELLA- we learn French here at Chantel’s Kindergarten
  • Cultural competence- incorporating all children’s cultures is very important to us here at Chantel’s kindergarten
  • Family input and weekend experiences make up a large part of our program
  • Areas of development- Physical (fine & gross), cognitive development, social development, language, emotional and sensory development all make up a part of our overall curriculum.
